Novel Creatives; A Conscious, Creative Community.

In the final instalment (for the time being only, we hope) from the lovely Lauren McCrostie, she describes all the ways our booking platform benefits ethically-minded industry experts AND sustainable brands (aka known as talent and clients.

Novel Creatives is an online booking platform which aims to create work for creatives and secure quality service to businesses. It offers a place where content creators, from all different disciplines, can present their expertise and clients seeking passionate, principled workers can hire them accordingly. But unlike other booking systems, it allows both brand and user to engage in a partnership which feeds a larger goal.

Every user of the site holds a “shared set of values”; everyone wants to assemble exceptional work while simultaneously helping the planet, its people or penguins and polar bears! Novel Creatives is a limitless enclosure of talented artisans carrying a string of ethics which they employ into their work; their conduct has a conscious. These artisans also work to assist their neighbouring creatives, helping pave their career route with advice, exchange of service or a recommendation to a client. Consequently, this arena is nothing but sodden in positivity and provides an abundant loving, thriving platform for all involved.

The benefits of the site are championed by Kate Osborne from the award-winning ethical footwear brand Po-Zu further: describing NC as a “breath of expertise” and confirming that the “knowledge found on Novel Creatives is unparalleled”. Brands admit that they are “always amazed at the level of content you can stumble upon” there. So yes, of course, companies from all different domains can enjoy the system by scouting for and then employing likeminded individuals. But they also understand they will be ensuring a service of expertise, inventiveness and ethics.

It is therefore ideal for sustainable organisations like Po-Zu who hope to “change the world a pair of shoes at a time”. Kate continues, expressing the search tool is sizeably convenient when hiring to sought specific creatives for a job. She positions Novel Creatives as a unique and special hub which creates clear “visibility and profile” for talented individuals. Longtime sustainability advocate and loyal trader on the site, Tahira Herold (from ‘Beauty By Tahira’) agrees with this, revealing that NC allows her to capitalise and showcase all of the gorgeous, groovy, green looks she constructs.

Tahira creates “beautiful makeup looks” without harming the planet. She prioritises by integrating organic, natural, mostly small brands into her craft. At times creatives feel self-conscious about their values and hide them in fear of it limiting their employability. But NC offers a haven for this; there is a mutual understanding between client and creative that their exchange is a more conscious affair. Besides, from performing her conscious craft on stars like Killing Eve’s’ sensational Sandra Oh and first-time female 'doctor' Jodie Whittaker- success is clearly not compromised by the maintenance of Tahira’s values.

Po-Zu are a passionate bunch who “love the idea of helping brands to grow and develop” which is a belief users also possess; they feel supported by their surrounding creative community. Tahira reveals she loves that “someone always has her back”. Passionate persons of the platform work with not against one another - helping new creatives advance in the field through referrals and learning from those with more experience so they can grow too. Work is shared and generated here, and makers can “pass work on to trusted friends”. Its a safe space for everyone and a pool for inspiration too, with another member of the site claiming the blog is their favourite aspect of the system; “for all the stories and learnings you can find there!”

Companies following a partial practise and body of morals can discover and hire workers possessing that same integrity and beliefs. For example; a shoe brand who source their materials from natural, fruit fibres such as “cork, coconut coir, organic cotton and pinatex” can select a makeup artist for a shoot who uses “products and tools that are healthier for the clients and the planet too”; all in aid of promoting a wider range of conscious beauty.

The only current limit is its numbers. Tahira admits that “we need to get more clients on board using it regularly”. So this is a call for all you creatives and creators to engage and share this tribe, to germinate this bountiful space further and fill it with even more talented, inspiring craftspersons.

As you've just read, there are vast benefits to both brand and artisan - so what's stopping you jump on this beautiful bandwagon?!

Hop on in and join the tribe!
